David Bowie Is The OG Master of Personal Branding!
When I walked into the David Bowie immersive exhibition at the Lightroom in London’s King's Cross, I was moved. I felt all sorts of emotions and even found myself in tears as certain songs brought back memories of my teenage years and reminded me of long-lost friendships, and the beginning of my journey as an individual who values art, music and friendships very much. Five years remind me of magical afternoons spent with good friends, watching the trees and the world around me with wonder. The immersive experience brought out so many thoughts about art, design, personal branding, and creativity that I knew I needed to come back and really take it all in, so I did.
For me, Bowie was the first true master of personal branding, even before the term existed. He was endlessly versatile and always changing. What I find most fascinating is that, in the end, he saw himself primarily as a writer. He found inspiration everywhere and built his career on constant reinvention. He was a real-life lesson in creativity, design, and originality.
In my upcoming posts, I’ll explore a few ideas about David Bowie in relation to design, branding, immersive spaces, and more!
Back in the day, Bowie inspired me to pursue a life built on creativity and thinking differently. Now, as I train to be a psychotherapist, I want to bring all these pieces together and connect psychology, creativity, design, and courage.
If you’re curious like Bowie and me, and you’re interested in personal branding, design, creativity, inspiration, and psychology, stick around, save this post, and come back for more. You can also join my mailing list, where I’ll share more on these topics.
If there’s something about David Bowie that means a lot to you personally, please let me know in the comments. I’d love to talk about it in a future post.
More to come soon.
