Goodby 2022, Lets do this 2023!

2022 End-of-Year Review

In 2022, I celebrated the birthday of "My Heart Is Here and There", and the year was full of activities. I am grateful for all the opportunities that came my way, from conducting book workshops to speaking engagements. Sharing my love of bookmaking and connecting with others was a true joy.

As I look ahead to 2023, I am thinking about the goals I want to set for myself. Although the past year was busy with excellent and creative activities, I want to set meaningful goals to help me grow as a creator, bookmaker, artist, person, and parent.

I am sharing some of my recent activities. You will find them exciting and valuable, especially if you are interested in children's picture books, bilingualism, and relocating to a new place.

Here is a summary of what happened:

  • I published "My Heart Is Here and There."

  • I conducted a workshop with PJ Library on being a parent to bilingual children and how we can encourage them and offer creative support.

  • I delivered a workshop on book cover design at Simon Marks Jewish Primary School, which was a lovely experience.

  • I participated in a talk about indie publishing.

  • I designed and built my own Shopify store! I used Wix until now, but as I plan to sell my books directly, I decided to set up a shop. I am offering a 10% discount during January 2023 to celebrate the shop launch and the new year.

  • If you'd like to read more about what led me to write the book, head to עלונדון, as they kindly wrote about my author journey and the book.

  • I am excited to share that Hamidgalor, a gorgeous bookshop in Tel Aviv, now has my book on display. If you are in Israel, you can purchase it from them.

  • In the past year, I completed two courses with the Good Ship Illustration, one on children's picture books and the other on illustration. I learned a lot, deepened my understanding of illustration and storytelling, and connected with great people.

  • Lastly, I returned to weekly life drawing sessions with Draw Brighton. Drawing from life again fills me with joy, as there's nothing better than being in a flow state while drawing.

In between this, I also designed work around children's picture books for clients and did graphic design work for marketing. I needed this break!

However, I am happy to be back at the studio with exciting news coming up, including planned workshops and new products made especially for our community. Please keep in touch to stay up-to-date on all the latest news.

I appreciate your support and wish you a creative, nurturing, and healthy new year! See you here and there!

Here’s to more books and creativity in 2023!

Book Cover Design Workshop!

On November 2022 I had the pleasure of delivering a book cover design workshop at Simon Marks Jewish Primary school in Stoke Newington.

It was planned for a while since I became Author In Resident in the school.
My goal was to give the children the tools they needed to create their books while using the cover design artwork as a starting point.

I brought in some of my favourite children's picture books and discussed what makes a good cover design. I gave them sources of inspiration, reference points, practical tools, and exercises to help them create their cover design.

They had many good questions and got very involved with the task.
It was great to see the kids in a creative flow, concentrating and creating, each in their world, exchanging ideas and showing interest in each other's work. The results were fantastic!
It was a great experience, and I would like to repeat and do more of these workshops as bookmaking is a fantastic tool to access our creativity, connect and share our story through the art of visual storytelling.

The classroom is ready for the Cover Design Workshop!

Indie Publishing talk with Osnat Goaz and Carmel Cohen

How to self-publish a book, and what is new in the self-publishing world? I have recently attended the SPS conference at South Bank Centre. I took part in this talk with the lovely Osnat Goaz, and Carmel Cohen about self-publishing following the publication of My Heart Is Here & There Book. To listen to the interview, please click here.

Hello 2021!

Welcome to my new blog, which will focus on all things creative! Thank you for taking the time to read about my thoughts and expertise.

We’re living through unusual times, and it can be challenging. However, it can also allow us to go inwards, inside our homes, bodies, and imagination. To daydream (when having a five-minute break from the kids), and most importantly, to be creative.

Creating and making new things has given me a feeling of joy and satisfaction; no matter what goes on outside, I can always come back to my happy place (my studio space) and bring something new into the world. It makes me feel accomplished without leaving the house.

In the past few months (since the first lockdown in March!), I’ve been working on my upcoming children’s picture book, My Heart is Here and There.

As some of you know, I also run a graphic design studio, to which I bring 15 years of experience in the creative industries, ten years of which were spent working in London's graphic design industry. My expertise spans art studies and practice, producing and curating large-scale exhibitions and photography.
